Since the person grew up in the same town as I did, I checked that newspaper, with no results. Please help!

Did the death occur in that town? Obituaries are posted in "home towns" if somebody takes the time to send the information to the local paper but if it happened in a different place, it will usually only show up in the town that the funeral home is situated or where the death occured.

you may not have looked in the paper on the correct date, call the newspaper
