I realise that many libs simply hate Conservatives, Republicans, and anyone who does not GroupThink like them. This question is for the Libs who actually care about the issue, not simply hating the people.

If your answer is something simpleminded like 'drop dead' or 'go jump off a bridge', you should know, but I'll remind you anyway just to be sure. You are an idiot, and you can't change that. Go turn on the TV and pop some pills.

Someone said that it was the worst economy in 50 years. Just wanted to clear that up with a little truth. Federal revenue has gone up Personal income has gone up, and individual home buying has gone up. Check this out [http://www.census.gov/govs/www/qtax.html]

I notice a few recurring themes in the answers. One of them is 'bring the troops home'. You should all be aware by now that if Congress (R and D) wanted to do that, they could simply stop funding the war. As it stands, the majority of Congress votes to fund the war everytime they decide to have a vote on whether or not they should fund the war. That is part of the whole 'checks and balances' thing.

Another recurring theme is lying about the Iraq war. Please be more specific. If you are talking about the Iraq/Al Qaeda connection, please be sure to explain how we are killing so many of them there, and what we should do when they come here to kill us after we pull out. If you are talking about the Iraq/911 connection, update your inputs. He never stated that, in fact he stated the opposite. If you are talking about soldier deaths, you should be aware that more American civilians have been killed in America since 9-11 by illegal immigrants than in Iraq by Iraqis. Most of our soldiers are being killed by Al Qaeda insurgents, who are not always Iraqi, but who are always eager to kill Americans, there or here, it dosen't matter to them.

Ideally, he'd have to become a liberal. Realizing that won't happen, I'd be happy if he started listening to people that didn't agree with him, rather than just dismissing them. If he could understand that it is possible for him to make mistakes, and if he would stop lying.
We are killing terrorists in Iraq now because they have gone there since we invaded. They were NOT there before. If we leave there, they really have no way of getting here. If they did, they would be here already. As for claiming Bush never said there was a tie between Iraq and 9/11, you are just wrong. He said it numerous times. He has since changed that, but he most certainly did say it originally, when he KNEW it wasn't true.
And the economy is only better because he destroyed it so thoroughly. You can't turn something to crap, and then clean up part of the crap, and get kudos for it. In addition, the "record highs" the Dow is setting are breaking records from six years ago. Finally, the Dow is only thirty stocks, the NASDAQ index, containing thousands of stocks, was over 5000 when he took office, currently it is at 2380.

I think that a time machine and a lobotomy would be required.
Now -- for a serious answer. It is too late for him -- but the things he could have done are:
1. Take responsibility. Everything that went wrong was blamed on someone else.
2. Tell the truth. He lied to us about why we were going into Iraq. Unfortunately, that was not his first lie to the American People, nor his last.
3. Listen to all of his advisors. His ignoring of the people who knew about Al Kaelda both before and after 9/11 hurt us incredibly.
4. Go after Osama

Honestly...He could start by reworking the Patriot Act.Returning the right to privacy to law abiding citizens.Next he could return Human rights to a country that was founded on them by reworking his torture law and agreeing to follow the Geneva Convention and allowing these people due process of law.It would be great if he could come to terms with what we are going to do to bring the troops home. He has already said he would be in favor of raising the minimum wage. Thinking of other people besides the rich and corporations would always be a plus....this would be a start.

It is far too late for Bush to be a good president. He has already done more damage than any other commander in chief in the nation's history. No other president has ever made the country so hated around the globe. No other president ever lied to the people in order to enter us into war so he could further his own personal agenda. No other president turned a huge trillion dollar surplus into a trillions of dollars deficit. No other president has made the world such a dangerous place for americans travelling abroad.
Bush has comiitted offenses that are not only impeachable, but worthy of being tried in a world court for crimes against humanity, just like Hussein is. Mark my words, print them out and save them: George W Bush will go down as one of the worst presidents in U. S. History.

I don't hate conservatives, republicans etc. I just get fruterated with them because they don't always think. They are followers and they are afraid. That is why they need bad powerful leaders to tell them what to do. Bush is a bad president because he manipulates and does not care about the people. He has his own agenda nad he has jumped on a powerful bandwagon (Christian conservative) I don't belive you should pick a group and ring out every voter. America is full of people and we need a leader that is concerned with all. That is my main consternation. I hate that America is so divided between liberal and conservative. United we stand divided we fall. I wish people would say that to themselves more often.

As far as being a good president. his history has already been written! He will never be known as a good president!
As far as actually doing something good, he can work with with Democrats, not against them! If he does not, we will be at a stalemate for 2 years perhaps, though I think even Republicans in the House and Senate recognize their head is on the chopping block in 2008, and are more likely to side with the Democrats than with Bush and his failed policies!
One way is to recognize the people spoke pretty clearly on Tuesday! His jamming through bills and appointments, which are only going to be undone, that are significantly the opposite of what voters want, will not make his final 2 years easier!
One of the things he is trying to push through is to make the tax cuts for the rich permanent! How stupid! It is not going to happen! People are tired of reverse redistribution of wealth, robbing from the poor to give to the wealthy! Thanks to Iraq and it's government no-bid contracts, there are 500 more millionaires in this country! No one should be taking millions from contracts meant for our troops!
Bush needs to listen to the voter's rather than do any damn thing he wants, which is what he has done for 6 years!

I think the only way Bush could redeem himself and become a good president is if he takes to heart the lesson to be learned from reading the last page of Hitler's play-book.

Although I don't agree with the Iraq situation, my sister(who does) said something that really stuck in my mind. She said do you really think it was easy for him to send our troops over there knowing that some wouldn't come back, I'm sure he loses sleep every night over every American killed. I would never want that on my head

Firstly, I think he needs to humble himself. He has a cocky attitude that is not only not neccessary, but makes him appear stupid and bully-like.
Secondly, he needs to start listening to people outside his own politcal circle. His administration has been way too guilty of group think.
Thirdly, he needs to address some important issues in this country...health care and secondary education costs would be my choice.
