I think it's a sad statement about our society. I think it shows how self centered we have become and how easy it has become to just give up if something doesn't suit us or go our way. People used to take their wedding vows seriously and they made it work through mutual respect for each other. Now when people get married they say oh well if I'm not happy I'll just get divorced and find someone else. The real casualties in all of this is the children involved. People seem to use theri children as weapons in a divorce and don't think about the long term effects it has on the children. Why don't people just live together instead of taking vows they don't intend to keep.

It says that society is ok with people divorcing who think they are not happy in a marriage. A higher divorce rate in one country doesn't mean society is going to pot. It just means that people have an easy way "out" and have no problem doing so.

Well in my opinion, I think that the divorce rate is so high is all the cheating that is going on. I know more people that are getting a divorce because one cheated on the other, than any other reason. So what does that say about our society?......it says we have a lot of cheaters here in our society!

Society is pretty much immature, selfish, has an inability to make good decisions, virtually uncommitted to anything and everything, and always looks for the next best thing.

There is nothing to feel alarmed about it. It is happening in other countries also at a lesser rate. Life is too short. Freedom and peace of mind is more important.

Noone needs marriage to survive. Women can leave their husbands a lot easier now and make it in the world, where it was harder back in the day, so they had to stay and stick it out and work at it.

The majority of you heterosexuals just can't live up to your commitments. Just keep breeding and raise defective children due to your selfishness and lack of morality. But of course vote "no" on gay marriage, like you're all experts on the subject. Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
