Is it worth it if you have to sneak around and find out if they are married or not? Because if they are the whole thing was based on a lie

If you have to go behind thier back and ask because you dont think you are getting the real answer, then they dont seem like the right person to stay with.

You can search the public records in the county where they were married.. Or you can go & search for local people finders in your area & look up background information & public records. good luck & take care

I think others have give you good suggestions. But my suggestion is LEAVE HIM if you feel uncertain with him, don't take a risk with having relationship with him.
