Bottles,
Many know the Pledge of Allegiance but do not know the actual meaning behind it.
As already shown in a post made here, some want to pick it apart and take God out.
God is the only chance we have for peace and unity.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

It's a nice thought, bottles, but the reality of it is that anyone who does agree to your plea will end up a liar because nobody can stick to that kind of commitment. Not even you. I remember you calling for something similar awhile back -it was a post about ending the bickering between parties- and since then you have made several attacks on Democrats, even as late as this morning. Someone has to initiate the respect and MEAN IT when he/she does it. I don't think that person is you.

I do. And I agree totally. Right now we are pretty divided. Too bad the Democrats and Republicans can't learn from the Sunni and Shiitein Iraq? They fighting has accomplished nothing.
As i see it the only difference between Democrats and Republicans, and Sunni and Shiite, is the folks in Iraq use guns and explosives.

I pledge allegiance...
A promise of loyalty.
To our nation's symbol of freedom, bought and paid for by the blood of Americans.
I cannot unite with people who want rights without responsibility, Bottles, and this needs to be taught to our children along with the Pledge.

I do. By the way it's One Nation Under God (which means the Judeo-Christian God, not just any deity), but the Islamofascists say any nation not under Allah is a nation of nothing but pigs and cows and Allah commands the slaughter of these animals.
Even if we all agree what good does it do if we are to be slaughtered by the Islamic hate machine?

No, I do not. The seperation of church and state is a farce. I was required to stand, hold my hand over my heart, and recite the pledge of allegiance in elementary school. I have forgotton it on purpose and am now an atheist and do not care to know it. The American flag is a symbol of right-wing politics and religon. It no longer deserves to be respected or displayed.
