Usually labor gives you the runs, and you're able to empty your bowels before birth. You can also request an enema or some laxatives when you first get to the hospital to help empty you out.

But honestly, no one even notices that you're pooping, the doctors and nurses are RIGHT THERE with huge chucks (big paper towel things that absorb smell and fluid) and they wipe it away before anyone ever notices, and throw it out.

With all the dark blood and fluids coming from your vagina, its really hard for dad, or mom, to notice that fecal matter is envovled.

No one will notice. Its not like you're going to end up with a turd laying on the bed between your legs. You have the runs when in labor, and its never enough to ammount to anything. No one will notice :)

Yes. It is true. Poop is another exciting factor of childbirth :/ With my first the labour came on strong and i had a massive urge to go poop. So i went to the corridor loo and found out that i was actually having the baby! I locked the door too and all the midwives had to try and get me out as i was nearly giving birth on the toilet floor. How embarassing to say the least.

Anyway, although i knew some poop was coming out when i was lying flat on my back pushing (on the bed now), i was apologising, but the midwives were that fast getting rid of it you couldnt tell and nor could my partner. It isnt like you can help it.

Relax and remember all the midwives have seen it all before. They wouldnt do that job if they were repulsed by it. Alexa x :)

It is true, but trust me you won't care at that point. I did not poop during labor and many women go before they get into hard labor. It is the bodies way of getting ready for the labor. I actually threw up with my second daughter. But as I said in the beginning, you will not care if you poop or not. All you care about is getting the baby out so the pain can end. You'll be fine.

I don't know if you can prevent it but that was a concern of mine with my 1st baby. When we went to childbirth class the teacher asked who was afraid to poop on the doctor and my husband raised MY hand and she was all it doesn't happen as often as we think but if it does it normally just goes right into the can they have under you to catch all the liquids. And if you don't know you did they don't tell you. At least that's what they did where I had my babies.

I actually ate lunch about 3 hours before i went into labor. i think that i had a sandwich.. and then my labor was only and hour and a half... and i didn't poop.. but i really felt like i was going to and i kept telling that to the doctor when i was pushin the baby out... so no matter what you are gonna feel like your pooping.. but you might now... i would just not eat things that cause costipation or poop... hehe!! hope that helped.

not really, an enema would help but wouldn't eliminate the possibility. Honestly, you don't give Sh** when you are giving birth. I couldn't even tell you if I had a BM when I had my son. It's something you will not be very concerned about when the time comes. All you want is the whole thing to be over and have your little one in your arms.

no i dont think so. I think it's a common worry for more women..i mean who wants to poop but believe me when you're in labor and pushing that baby out you don't even think of it. I mean you're putting all this pressure down there..something is bound to come out. Don't worry. The hospital staff is so used to dealing with it that it doesn't even phase them..I should know I work in a hospital and deal with stuff like that daily. Its nothing to be embarassed of. It's a fact of life.

I think that is a very high estimation. If eat enough fiber while you're pregnant and drink enough water so that your bowel movements are regular you probably won't move your bowels while giving birth. It's more likely a women will urinate while giving birth then have a bowel movement which I heard happens but is uncommon. Good luck.

Not eating after you go into labor. Normally they will give you something to clean you out if there is time before you deliver if not then well there is probably no way to control it. Even though it is embarrassing, trust me the doctors have seen it several times and they know what to expect that is what you or your insurance is paying them for.
