They are both based on the x86 instruction set. Although AMD does not use the exact setup as intel as that would be copyright infringment. Only worry about if it will run on Windows. If it runs on Windows then who cares about what kind of HD or such like that. Games do require spedific levels of certain equipement to play. The processor speed is a mandatory thing but if it is AMD or Intel does not matter.

Another thing to watch out for is if the proc is a 64 bit proc and you run WinXP64, then some apps/games will not run under that.

Yes, Intel and AMD are both processors - Just made by different companies is all. i.e a NIKE shirt and a ADIDAS shirt - both shirts right? both do the same job - just made by two different crowds - hope that answers your question :)
