I stopped taking the ortho evra birthcontrol patch about 3 weeks ago. My husband and I are trying to have a baby. I am due for my normal period in about 10 days. How long should I wait before I take a test? I dont want to take it too early.

After an egg is fertilized, it travels down the fallopian tube to the uterus and implants itself in the uterine lining. After the egg implants, it starts to produce HCG, which is the hormone that pregnancy test tries to detect. Implantation can occur 4-6 days after ferlization. If you have a suspect date on when you conceived, wait at least a week before taking a test.
If this is your first period on your own after you stopped your pill, it may not come on the expected date. So this may be a bust for you. If you don't get pregnant this time around, I'm sure you will on the next cycle. Good luck.

If you had sex yesterday, you should get the morning-after pill today instead of trying to figure out how much longer you can drink and smoke. You'll have to wait at least two weeks to take a pregnancy test, and it might not be accurate yet even then.

I put that stupid patch on one day late and was pregnant the next month. So that is good news for you. Take the test no sooner than five days before your scheduled date. Trust me after six months of pregnancy you'll wish you wouldn't have known so soon. *L* 9 months is a long time!
