I d like to set my computer to be "seen" as "american" though I am connecting from Rio. Is that possible?

The Internet doesn't look at your computer geographically. It looks at your IP address, and sorts out where the address is assigned to.

If you have an American IP address, the net will see you that way.

Your issue at this point is getting a good IP address assigned to your computer.

You would need something like a VPN to accomplish that. You will still have the IP address from your ISP in Rio, but all traffic will be routed through the VPN. This is not an ideal solution though. Oh and you would need a server in America to do this as well.
