why we need sports and games?

dont you think its waste of money to organise such events and isnt it a waste of time to watch them or to play?

To some extent if you are referring the cricket.5 days,full day for a single game,it is too much.
Our hockey is far far better as within two hours the game is over.But alas there is no interest and no money for the players,i feel sorry for the National game.
If people do not go to see the cricket matches the trend can be reversed.One can not imagine how much loss is being generated
by wasting manpower and also in betting.

I got some insight into this issue while living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There, amid desperate poverty, kids spend untold amounts of energy, time and other resources, with parental encouragement, trying to become soccer stars. It was heartbreaking to watch, especially since the odds of any of them making it to Boca or the Argentine National team are virtually zero.

At the same time, I saw in the news that the judge who presumed to rule that Maradona couldn't play due to failing a drug test was kidnapped, his life threatened, and released only after he promised to free Maradona from responsibility for his actions. News reports two days later had Madadona back on Boca, bad drug test and all.

Organized sports are simply symbols of a failed, decadent society. Anything beyond pickup games, intramurals, or simple ball and stick play uses time and resources better spent on other endeavors.

no, it's not a waste of time. these are occasions for the community and we need to connect with other people if we are to develop normally and not become psychos
