Decorating large evergreen outside?

Question

We have large evergreens in our front yard. They are as tall as our 1.5 story house. I'd like to put Christmas lights on them but don't know the best way of doing that. A ladder seems out of the question because I couldn't lean it on anything. Maybe a long pole with a hook? If so, do they sell such a thing? If I made one what should I make it out of? I think that's a great idea.how about some PCP pipes.they are long and you could extend it as tall as you want.easy to store and a hole to put a wire hanger in it. duct tape and walla.hope I heped

I agree the ladder is a bit dodgy. Get a piece of 1/2 inch dowelling about 10ft long. Wrap the end with gaffer (duct) tape and then put a square hook in, not in the end but in the side. If you cannot find a square hook open out a rounded hook. The reason for this is that the lights will not slip off the round hook easily. The tape round the end of the dowelling is to give it extra strength.

Use a step latter that opens up and it has it's own support. Borrow a neighbors or something.

To make your own pole, use a broom handle, you may get more hold control by using the sweep part, it may be tricky, but I think that should do the trick.

I have trees that size in my yard too.

you can buy specialized poles from the arborist industry that you could use but they can be quite expensive and it still requires the use of a large stepladder. you may want to contact an arborist or tree service in your area. many of them do christmas lights for customers depending on how busy they are.
