A lot of formulas and programming involved which requires a mathamatical mindset. Computers are setup based on math.

Different colleges have different mathematics requirements for a computer science degree. I started as a math major and switched to computer science. I love math, but found I loved programming even more. Where is the overlap?

It is primarily in logic, as has been said already. The same type of thinking is used in mathematics and computer programming. There is more to programming than knowing and being fluent in syntax... it involves thinking like a computer.

When you get into advanced programming, you will be concerned about efficiency. You will find yourself doing calculations to try to minimize runtime and maximize accuracy.

Do I often use differentiation and complex trigonometric functions in programming? Hardly! But having an understanding of the concepts of both has made it much easier to get into the "mind" of a computer program, to have a firm grasp on the data flow and what's going on under the hood.

I don't know if this has helped you at all or not, but I hope you gather some insight from what I've said.

Best of luck to you!

Math is on the concern of laptop technology yet in many cases it isn't this style of math that you study in classic math instructions. pcs in many cases use mathematical structures in holding with Binary, Octal, and Hexadecimal numbering structures. the conventional device that all of us used in maximum math instructions is purely a daily Base 10 device. This purely means that maximum of our calculations are depending off of the decision ten. the position as in an Hexadecimal surroundings the device is depending off of 16. So in this device 16 of something is amassed in a collection. a lot as after we placed 10 of something in a mutually in a Base 10 device we commence with a clean grouping starting up at 11. somewhat extra more convenient now. the purely ingredient pcs can do nicely is math. they could upload, subtract, and view (more effective than decrease than) numbers ok. they could do a pair different ordinary math applications yet those are the numerous ones. With this in recommendations sure that is necessary keep in mind that math is occupied with laptop technology yet except you're making plans on turning out to be an engineer that designs how processors manage the low aspect mathematics applications, everyday math route must be high-quality.

Boolean logic, which all digital computers are based on, is considered part of mathematics, under predicate logic. Check algebra of sets.
