I personally don't think any particular genre can actually be defined as "best," or better than others. I would agree that certain genres are more dynamic musically than others, like classical Beethoven is to modern folk. But overall appeal of music is completly subjective, and as a musician and singer/songwriter, I personally think any music that is true to the writer's heart is good stuff. I think a song sounds best when performed by its composer, but it can still be worthwhile music if someone else sings/plays it. Music is art, and how you define art and approach art will affect how you understand and appreciate it.

What is best is all relative.
I like all music. I prefer some genres over other. There are still some genres that I cannot listen to, and it's not because I think they are awful or that I don't appreciate them, but it's because they are not to my taste. I really don't like poorly performed jazz, modern country, and most modern pop music.
I think the best genre of music is honest music, not fabricated/packaged music.

It's quite subjective, actually.
Each person who digs what they do will claim theirs is the best.
Each genre has its own merits.
I once knew a guy who was in a death-metal band. He was telling me about them making a CD here in Portland, so I told him I'd like to hear it.
It wasn't to my taste, but the songs were very well choreographed and mixed.
I like rock-n-roll, blues, 80s pop, but I'm not going to say that they're the best; it's just what I like.

Goth/Industrial. Technically they're two different genres, but they get lumped in together a lot and also I like both quite a bit so I can't really choose between the two which one I like best.

I like it when artists/bands aren't afraid to mix genres. I'd say that the ultimate genre would be some fusion of blues, jazz, avant-garde and funk...no clue what that would be called...

Country music is awesome, because it doesn't have any weird noises and people yelling. You can understand the song and the words in country music. So, i think It should be country music.
