4 Weeks is too early to see in Gestational Sac or Embryo. Typically 5 weeks is when you can visualize a Gestational Sac and Yolk Sac using endovaginal ultrasound. Embryo should be visible at 6 weeks.
Trans abdominal Ultrasound will take an additional 1 week to visualize all the structures than endovaginal Ultrasound.

Yes it could be considered normal but the ultrasound person should have been able to see a little "peanut" somewhere in there. I had to have an ultrasound when I was a couple of months pregnant and I had a little tiny peanut in my picture. You could have asked the doctor why it was that you guys couldn't see anything and also ask to hear the little heartbeat to make sure that everythings okay.
Don't stress about it, the first trimester is when you have to take it easy and rest and not get stressed out. I'm sure if there was a problem the doctor would have told you. The only question is why are you having an ultrasound done so early? Good luck to you and that little bundle!

IF they said it was normal. Theres not much to see at 4 weeks, since the embryo has only been developing for 14 days. We're talking aboutsomething here half the size of a pea. It can be very hard to see anything.
I dont know why they would even order an ultrasound so early. I would imagine you'll have to get another on in a few more weeks.

Yeah, at 4 weeks the baby has only been growing for 2 weeks. That first 2 weeks is the time from your period to conception. Dont worry about that yet. The baby is still too small yet.

With my son, I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and we saw a ball. Just a tiny blob and we saw and heard his heartbeat.

that's normal. At 4 weeks, your baby would be smaller than a peanut. At 5 months, you will hear his heartbeat.
