I mean, he pretended he was a white guy brought up in a black neighbourhood and all that other BS when he came from a rich family in Texas. And despite the fact he stole the bass-line from Queen and David Bowie how does that make him not a valid artist in his own right?

When you compare him to all the theiving plaguristic rappers and commercial studio boybands today - Vanilla Ice comes up looking lilly white.

Nice tie-in John Steed.
Milli Vanilli were widely loved until it was found the dancers were not the singers as portrayed. Suddenly the band became villains rather than heros - yet the music is the same now as it was then.

Your right, He has done nothing that other artists haven't. However you have to look at the time that that happened. Milli Vanilli had just been exposed as frauds. Now here comes another guy that is a fraud.

I think more than anything else, it really was the media that killed him.

Just like they did to howard dean

Isn't it just typical of the music bis.
Money and fame thats all it is, he had the chance to gain large sums of money and fame quickly and so he took it. who can blame him for that. For all we know he probably didnt even like rap music much but at the same time he had the chance to be somewhat of a pioneer.

I'm not gonna lie when i hear the track ice ice baby i find myself singing along to the whole track, so they must have done something right. Anytime you have a whole load of people singing your song and they can't even speak english well, then you are pretty much onto something good.
I say ride the train while you can, because it will not last forever (ask michael jackson or sisqo for that matter)

All he can do now is be true to himself.

first off before accusing someone of plagarism (which it isn't, it's actually copyright infringement) you're assuming that queen/david bowie copyrighted that bass line, and second you're assuming thatice just decided to steal it, maybe he paid rights, ever think of that, it happens all the time. lastly, musical notes, and chords cannot be copyrighted, there is a minimal amount of music an artist (term used loosely) can "sample" without paying rights for. i'd suggest you do some research before bashing someone liek this in a public forum. Oh btw, vanilla was absolutely unlistenable

I surely have heard of Compton, la, Watts, Inglewood yet under no circumstances Fresno. That guy desires some artwork. I hate him continuously saying popo zow and his album replaced into the hugest failure! a minimum of Vanilla Ice bought respectable

What I don't understand is, why was Vanilla Ice so disrespected yet, Eminem was so popular in his time? Even though all his raps were so offensive. He sang about killing his wife, b"tches, stealing, smoking, etc. I just don't get it.

nah. he was no eminem. but he was way more talented than say, k-fed?!?! but in the beginning he used to claim he was from miami like he was ashamed of being a texan!!! like a poser-that, for me was hard to forgive!! i'm proud to be a texan!! but like the dixie chicks, i'm not necessarily proud to say i'm from the same state as one of the most ignorant presidents in history!

He was a poser. Remember when he tried to go hardcore? It was awful. He was a puppet of his record label. Did you see him on Sureal Life? He's disgusted with himself.
