I think that Bush cost us (republicans) the election. I think that people were voting against bush rather than for a canidate. THAT worries me. I am one of those people that, even though I am a republican at heart, I feel regardless of party affiliation, it should be whoever's best for the job. And I don't necessarily know if those voted WERE best. I just hope those elected PROVE to the country that the voters didn't make a mistake.

I knew the republicans had already lost when I got a survey in the mail from Sen Allen. Looking over it, I noticed that id didn't have the words 'illegal immigration' on it anywhere. I thought about all of the conversations I have had recently with people who go both ways (R & D) about the issue. So many of us feel like it is an important issue. If we would send our soldiers around the world fo protect us, why would we drop the ball here at home? If they are so inept as to have no clue about all of this, why should we bother to vote for them?

Absolutely marvellous. How we can get to grips with the real issues in the US. As an example how about some legislation to make elections easier to understand, such as the banning of exit polls, making all ballots one piece of paper per election contested and placed into ballot boxes (as in the UK) and all voting to close at the same time in each time zone and the votes counted the following day.

By the way, the 2008 elections started months ago....
And what I think of the dem's running congress is, they've just inherited the war and it will be interesting to see what they do about it.

I truly wish them the best of luck, but I expect a lot of "Uh - what do we do now?" looks. The democrats have been the minority party for so long that they don't know how to be an effective majority yet. It'll look like someone trying to herd cats for awhile.

If you watch the Mid East press / news ( Al Jazeera etc. ) you
can see Hamas / Hezbolla and Muslim terrorst brigades parading
and celebrating the win by Democrats in Congress...
They also agree with you about Rumsfeld...
Celebrate with your brothers...
Myself, I am not so happy....
