It can be normal in the fact that just because it isn't detected doesn't mean it isn't there. Just think this, if there was something that serious, the doctor's would tell you. All they are concerned now is that you are not as far along as they first thought. That happens :) We cannot tell the exact moment of conception, and sometimes doctors can be off by even four weeks.

Make an app to go back in four weeks to do another one.

I don't know but I had an ultrsound at 6 weeks and the heartbeat was very easy to see. The heart usually forms and starts beating around 3 weeks after conception. Did they tell you how far along you are? Sounds like you are only 3-4 weeks according to your last menstrual cycle which I assume you mean as Oct. 11. It is real hard to see much other than the gestational sac at 3-4 weeks. If the doc did not seem concerned I would not worry. Good Luck!

I'm very sorry to hear this, but there are two things that could have happened. If you had your last period last month, that would make you less than eight weeks, in which case seeing a sac for the baby and no heartbeat would be normal since you can't really see anything that early. If you were supposed to be farther than that and they can see the actual baby but no heartbeat then I'm sorry, your baby has passed and you need to consult with your doctor about a D & C. Unfortunately many many pregnancies end in the first trimester and many women have no clue until the heartbeat cannot be detected. I know you hear all the horror stories about miscarriage, but they don't all happen like that. You need to talk to your doctor and ask him/her what they think and go from there. My prayers are with you and yours!

No it is not normal. You need to ask the doctor more questions.

My wife miscarried at 19 weeks. The worst moment of our lives was during the scan when the nurse calmy stated that she could not find a heartbeat. The way she spoke, I wasn't sure if it was osmething to worry about or not. It was like she was answering a question on an exam.

Ask questions and do not leave until you fully understand what is happening. Take a good friend with you, preferrably the father. You will need support to get you through the next few weeks.

Good luck and remember that these things happen for a reason. It is nobodies fault.

I am 8 weeks and 6 days pregnant today. When the doctor checked for the heartbeat they found no heartbeat either so they are going to do an ultrasound to find out how far along am i because i'm not sure myself. They ran the doppler over my stomach but no heartbeat yet. I wouldnt' worry so much about it because every site i checked says you can't hear the baby's heartbeat until you're 12 weeks pregnant. But i could be wrong.

You had your last period on November 10th? or October? Try not to worry about it. If your HCG levels are fine, and they should see that at the office, then it should be ok. Just like they said, you may be less than you think and its just alot harder to detect. The heart starts beating at 5 weeks, so Maybe you are just that. Try not too worry too much. My babies heartbeats were always detected at 10 to 12 weeks along

if your last period was yesterday than you would not be 8 weeks along, you most likely wouldn;t even be pregnant yet. Scans are very accurate in the early months for dating purposes. I saw a heartbeat at 5 weeks, which my doctor said was very early. We are having another one done at 8 weeks o make sure everything is going as it should. Listen to your doctor, they are most often correct.

I've been through an exactly similar situation for our 1st baby...and unfortunately, I hope I am wrong in your case! Our baby lost heartbeat and the doctors pronounced it as dead. Desperate that we were, we decided to have 2nd and 3rd opinion, all of which came up with similar conclusions. We still decided to wait-n-watch. That's when the bleeding started. We were told that bleeding is nature's way of signalling the loss. We eventually lost the fight 3 weeks after the u/s scan and lost the baby. I pray for you that you have positive news tomorrow. Take heart and be positive.

I recently had just the sac and no baby. I had a D&C at 9 weeks. They were waiting for things to possibly turn around. Although the hearbeat should be seen at 5 weeks, it's possible there could be one soon. Hang in there. I know the wait is VERY hard
