Yep in the UK they are called crisp instead of chips.

I know they call them crisps in England, but my friend in New Zealand assures me they are still called chips in NZ and Australia. However, down under they call french fries chips, too. How confusing!

Indeed! Are you talking about the UK and US differences? Crisps are what you call chips... chips are what we in the UK have with fish and are what you call fries.
