I have lived in Charlotte for 26 years. I went to high school here and I went to UNCC. It's a very big town, and it's a nice town. You have to be careful where you go, just like anywhere else. She will meet friends in no time. My suggestion is for her to meet a few people in her class that do not live on campus, that way she will know who is from Charlotte and they can help her find her way around. At either school, Queens or UNCC she will have plenty of stores that are across from campus until she can find her way around. Just remind her of her other famous first that she was nervous about.... high school....she did fine then, she'll be ok now. Good luck to her and you too!!! :) PS: credit cards are for emergencies ONLY!!!

I lived in Charlotte for 20 years and went to college at UNCC. There are a lot of good place there and some parts (like the western and eastern part) that your daughter should stay away from. These are the places with the most crime. Downtown is a nice area with parks and museums. There are clubs of course but I can't really tell you a whole lot about them because I never went. I know at UNCC there are a ton of clubs and organizations that she can join (I was a member of the French club and the international student club) I am sure at Queen's of Johnson C. Smith or one of the other colleges they have the same things. The people are really nice for the most part and there are people from all over since Charlotte is the second banking capitol of the US after NYC so we have lots of people from all over the US.
Charlotte is fairly easy to get around in a car but if you don't have a car we do have a bus system (although I never used it so I can't say if it is good or not but I have heard from other people that it will get you prety much anywhere you need to go) The only hard place to drive is downtown because there are lots of one way streets so it can be a pain until you know it! Hope this helps:

I live in Fort Mill, SC about ten miles south of the city. I assume she might be going to UNCC? if so there is a pretty nice area around the campus. but Charlotte isnt a super huge party city, there are a few clubs but the night life as a whole isnt superb. extremely clean city though. very pretty. not the easiest to navigate, but not insanely hard either. if you have any q's just shoot me a line
