My wife is talking about this surgery and I'd like to support her in it. What kind of costs can be expected in such a thing, approximately? Anything specific to watch for? Sources I've found only describe the procedure and request an in-person consultation. I'd like to have a ballpark before considering such a consultation.

Serious answers only, please.

for breast reduction most if not all insurance carriers should cover this ... they have recogonized that they can cause serious back problems and cause shoulder to hunch if they are too big, she should ask her doctor if he can make it so that this is covered under insurance ... as for cost most times it'll be the same as a breast enlargement, but each person is different ... probably around 5k-9k ... but please use a doctor that is reputable not just a cheap one.

I think liposuction may work in your particular case but you'll have to discuss this with a reputable surgeon who specialises in breast surgery. Otherwise, they can do a reduction which includes removal of fat, skin and breast tissue which is a bit more pricey than liposuction and will result in some visible scarring. Liposuction: £2000-£5000 Breast Reduction: £5000-£8000 Hope this helps.

In Los Angeles, $5-7K for everything: physician, surgery center, anesthesia, follow-up.

Talk to previous patients.

The doctor should have admitting privileges at a local hospital (even though the surgery isn't done there) ask them for a reference on the doctor. No admitting privileges is a huge red flag!

Check with the state or national medical association for a clear medical credential.

Depending on how much breast work they have to do (large breasts that sag, remove excess tissue, build a pocket for the implant) approx. $15,000-30,000). That's total.
