This is a problem I see quite frequently on vehicles with a serpentine belt. The first thing you need to do is check the belt for cracks and wear. If the belt looks in good shape, check the tensioner pulley to see if it is loose. If that looks good and you still have the noise here is what I do. Go to your local parts store and get a tube of Permatex black silicone. With the engine shut off, squirt a small amount of silicone on your fingertip and with the engine off, rub the silicone on the ribbed portion of the belt. After that, start the engine and within seconds you noise should disappear. Did I mention that the engine needs to be off when you put the silicone on the belt. There is no permanent fix for this belt noise problem and the noise will come back in a few months, but when it does, you just need to repeat these steps. Do not spray belt dressing or anything else on your belt because it will only magnify the problem. If you have any questions, just contact me.

Check to see if you have the proper tension on the belt and the belt is in good condition. Then, spray it with some belt dressing.

You'll need a straight-edge(a piece of string works well). Check all pulleys for alignment. I've seen quite a few chrysler engines where brackets for add-ons weren't properly bent to give alternator, power steering pump, jockey pulley the correct alignment to prevent belt noise and premature failure,,:-(=

A belt squeeks when it is worn. You can replace it or go to an auto parts store and tell them you need some belt dressing.
