if someone was fired for stealing, but not prosicuted or even arrested, and actually they didnt even call it stealing, called it missuse of coupons or something like that. but anyway new employer is doing background check for promotion will that show on there?

The only background check it'll show up on is the one at the pearly gates. Ask for forgiveness and don't steal from your new employer. Good luck with your promotion!

When you prepare your job resume and references they usually DO call to confirm.

If you SKIP the one you were fired from you will have a GAP THEY WILL WANT AN EXPLANATION FOR IT.

no, but you may not want to use that job for a reference. The background checks will only reflect what you were prosecuted for in the court of law.

No one can know the answer for sure.

Thus, the correct response is for you to tell prospective employers about it. If they discover it on their own, you lose your job for lying.

No-your former employer can not talk to anyone either.they are only allowed to discuss.your employment dates and your last date of employment.This is federal law.I hope that you find your behavior repulsive however.
