Yah, I think today's general population is highly overmedicated.
I was a victim of the ADD craze when I was in elementary school. I had to take a ritalin pill twice a day until 4th grade then I was switched to dexadrin (stronger) because I was still "falling behind" spending from the minute I got home from school to the time I went to bed (which was usually late) By 6th grade I'de had enough of all this. I felt the pills were doing nothing but making me tired and depressed and refused to take them.
Surprise of surprises I did WAAAAAY better in school after that. I was usually able to finish my schoolwork during class and my homework during lunch break. I felt like I was thinking more clearly, learning much more, and was able to focus better without being drugged to the gills with ADD medication. And I graduated highschool medication free with a GPA of 3.8.
***Just like my enegetic, short attention-spanned 4 year old behaviour was misdiagnosed as ADD, I'm sure doctors are misdiagnosing colic, constipation, gas, and general baby fussiness as "depression".***

I hate doctors who think they solve problems w/ pills!!!!! Just plain pisses me off. Now they are attacking innocent babies!
First people get an F*ing clue! We need to start taking responsibility for our own health!!!!! If I had listened to the 2 stupid doctors who told me I was menopausal and had the hysterectomy they suggested. I wouldn't be pregnant now with my first child.
Doctors are NOT gods! they are human beings...susceptible to the same every day crap as we are. They are not immune from the weaknesses that so many suffer and will accept kick backs in the form of $$ or gifts to prescribe medications from pharmaceutical companies. Illegal it may be, but it happens. And what Dr. couldn't use a new set of golf clubs?????
Not to mention, a friend of mine is a nurse and told me of one neuro-surgeon she worked with who took a couple of shots of jack daniels before each surgery. Not to mention shes a pill popper herself....its a little scary to think that these are the people hands' whom you are putting your life and/or well being.
I'm not saying they are bad, but they don't have super powers and you should always weigh your options.

That is crazy... prozac for infants. Why not just get some crack and put it in their milk... I would never put that junk in my infant or child. That is for adults and an adult can make that call if they need it.

Wow, strange article. No way would I be giving my child a drug like this. It seems like most 'depressions' in children are caused by inattentive parents... fix the parents, dont drug the child.
