Go with the "triple threat". Get the plug in pest controller at most hardware stores. Next get regular mouse traps. They do make cool plastic ones that take no effort to reset like the wooden ones do. They need to be placed along walls since the mice find their way around that way. Peanut butter is the magic bait. Not too much or they just eat and run. Finally, a cat will keep the population down outside the building as well. Plan B, move like the other guy did.

Sticky Paper To Catch Mice

Most of the previous suggestions are good, especially the one about moving, though that might be impractical.

Calling the exterminator might cause problems with your landlady not wanting to pay for their service. You also might not want to live with the toxic chemicals they pump into the walls to kill vermin like mice!

DO NOT use a bait/poison like D-Con! The mice/rats eat the poison and it thins their blood, and kills them because they bleed to death internally. They take it back to their nests and feed the babies and they die too. You will have a LOT of dead mice, but they STINK horribly when they die. Since they're between the walls, you have no way of removing the carcasses. Your apartment will become unlivable because of the stench.

There are "live traps" which bait the mice into coming into a dark box to eat, and they can't get out. I think Sharper Image was the supplier.

I think you need to work more closely with your landlady. You may actually have to talk to the owner of the building if your landlady will not help you. It's to his advantage to keep the building in better repair. Mice can be a serious violation of your area's building code, too, so you might want to investigate what the penalties are and carefully approach the landlady again. If she realises that the mice problem could cause the owner such trouble, she may be more willing to help.

Good luck!

Mice, like rats, stick to "runs" along particular walls or beams. Yo need to keep moving the trap around until you have sucess.

It can take a while, they seem clever, but guess whos going to win in the end ?

Make sure thr trap bait is nice and sweet - chocolate with corn/rice crispies or something

Ive managed to catch many mice before with Jam! I tried a humane trap but it didnt work but jam on the old fasion wodden trap worked every time.

The idea is to put the trap right where the holes are as well as around the areas they go....... if that is in a cupboard then place loads of food in there so they go wild for it but prevent them from getting to it and only to the trap containing food!

Just keep at it. Try baiting the traps and sticky paper with peanut butter. Buy new traps so they can't smell the other mice that were caught and try not to touch the traps too much. Put them on the perimeter of the rooms--close to and along the walls. Good luck. Oh, make sure you keep everything in plastic and glass containers and don't keep a stash of grocery bags or anything else in cupboards or on the floor where the mice can make comfy nests.

I bought those once and I was so horrified by seeing the poor little mouse suffer, that I had to have my husband kill the mouse. I felt like such a horrid person afterward. To answer your question, throw it in a paper bag and then throw it away. If you can bring yourself to do it, once it is in the bag put it out of its misery in a quick way. Tell your mom that the traps that break the mouses neck are the most humane.

My first apartment when I was married years ago,had mice.I filled every possible hole I could find in the cracks, the mice were caught in the walls and had to put up with hearing them running through the walls at night when I was trying to sleep.
My solution to the problem..Move!!! that is what i did..Good luck..hopefully you do not have a lease that is keeping you there.

You might try one of the new electronic devices which emit ultrasonic sound which only mice and rats and some dogs can hear.. these device frightens the mice away and cause no harm to the environment..
