I always woundered about how Japanese tv was different than western programming. What make it stand out and also the commericals, how about the commericals?

its wierd and strange in places. no offence to the japanese themselves. the shows they have over there can be so over the top and too wierd for western audiences to lap it up. i am chinese but of course having seen tv in hong kong and china, i know its nowhere similar to what they show in japan. their advertising is kind of odd too at times. it seems as if they like to be as eccentric and as wierd as they possibly can. that show 'endurance' where people eat worms or endure having pins stuck into them is so OTT, its unbelievable that some of the stuff they do they can actually get away with and show on tv.
