Your Betta has swim bladder. It's from over feeding him. If you stop feeding him for a few days it should get better on it's own. So far it has worked for mine. But if you would like they do make meds for it. try looking at drfostersmith.com or just in your local pet supply shop.

Swimming on his side? That sounds like he's on his last leg. Generally that means death is near. It's a fish, they die very easily. If you had him for a long time, his lifespan is probably just over. Time to flush him away and get a new one.

Do you have him in the right environment? Water is the correct temperature, and clean? Not in one of those goldfish bowls with a plant on top? Feeding him the correct food?

His "swim bladder" may be injured, difficulty-loose in betta's, highly even as u feed them meaty, severe protein ingredients like bloodworm's, they could't digest it impressive. attempt feeding a vegetable depending nutrients. There r medicine's that can help you as long as u recognize what's causing it

Bring a water sample with you from his bowl and go to a pet store to have an analysis done for pH, etc. If that comes back ok, then it could be a parasite. Ask at the pet store (I recommend Petco or Petsmart). Hope he's ok!!

Usually if a fish swims on it's side or in circles it's his swim bladder. They usually die. What kind of fish is it. Exotic goldfish and Koi can be given frozen baby peas. For some reason this helps their swim bladders.

i've head betas before and mine did the same before he croaked.
do not listen to the person who told u to flush him down the toilet. if you want to end the mizery of a fish, many people think that is the way to do it, but it's acctually a horrible death for them, as they do not die right away after being flushed. they survive a little bit in the sewer sistem (cause it still has water), and it's not a good way to go.

He could have some type of fungus growing on him. Check online for Beta Fungus and see what you find. Or, he could be sick (usually-I have heard-that when a fish gets sick, he usually can't be saved...)
