odd integer can be represented by 2x+1 as said before me, where x belongs to Z (integers). suppose y = 2x+1. If y is the greater integer and if the two numbers are odd, consecutive integers, z = y - 2 = 2x-1. In that case y + z =< 185, but since the sum of two odd integers cannot be an odd number, y+z<185 or y + z =< 184. which can be written as: 2y - 2 < 185 2z + 2 < 185 4x < 185 where x, y and z all belong to Z (integers). . cheers!
