A little linguistic help needed! Is it common practice in your country that a professor can free a student from taking the exam BECAUSE THIS STUDENT HAS BEEN WORKING VERY HARD DURING THE SEMESTER and, therefore, would do well anyway at the exam??
If so, what do you call it out there?
