I read once in a FATE magazine the ghosts generally don't care much for noise, they will arrive when it is quiet.
I have seen them during daylight hours or felt their presence.
Another theory is that they follow their "living" routine maybe your ghost is/was a night owl too.

And I am a former ghost hunter-turned-skeptic. I wanted to believe they were real - but realized the more I examined the topic, the more it became evident that "there are no haunted places...just haunted people." Here's the logic: If ghosts were real, there should be no shortage of video evidence due to the large number of people that have died throughout the ages. What I find particularly annoying is every TV documentary on hauntings fails to provide video evidence even though they make statements like, "people often see the ghost", or "every year on the anniversary the ghost is sighted". If ghosts were real they'd be showing up on security cameras everywhere! If there are so many ghosts in graveyards, why has no one put a surveilance camera in one to capture them? People "see ghosts" most often at night usually being awakened from their sleep. I know from personal experience that there have been times when I've awakened being very frightened and confused because I thought what I was dreaming was very real. I have even "gotten up and walked around terrified" only to find moments later that I actually do wake up and discover that I had never gotten up at all - I was just dreaming I had. But I could have sworn I was actually up and walking around! I think ghost sightings are all apart of that unsettling experience. People are actually not aware that they are still asleep. The mind is a powerful thing and seems to like playing games with us. I hope this helps.

A) They don't;
B) humans thinking generate a kind of 'background thought-static'. When that is going on, it's difficult to perceive spiritual stuff, to have really deep philosophical conversations, and to do metaphysical 'works'. Thus midnight is the 'witching hour'. Count the number of deep conversations you've had in your life, now how many of those started at noon or 3 pm, and how many started at 10 pm and somehow went on until 3 am? You're just not used to the greater sensitivity you have when you're awake at this time, or the number of 'building memories' layered up in the area that you're at.

They come out at all times of the day. I have had experiences with them in the middle of the day, early in the morning...it really matters not to them. They do not know time like humans know time. It is much faster for them.
But for the most part, my experiences with ghosts have been at night, or twilight. The ghosts in my house love to torment me when I'm taking a shower...like opening and closing my bathroom door.
Once a ghost even took the form of my mother....but I'm not sure if that was a ghost or if it was a demon. Let me go into detail...I was cooking and I could hear my mother down the hallway in her bedroom humming, the light was on. Then, seconds later, I see the light go off and her walking down the hallway to enter the living room. I asked her a question and no answer...when I walked into the living room she wasn't there. So I went back to the stove, a bit disturbed. I looked down the hallway and her light was on. Then she really did walk down the hallway. When I told her about the whole ordeal she said nothing, just looked at me in disbelief...it was very strange. I remember, though, that when the image of my mother seemingly walked down the hallway there was no translucency...she looked completely solid, completely herself. But she made no sound, her footfalls were effortless as they never are....now that I think on it. So it couldn't have been her...but that remains to be the strangest thing that's happened to me.
But at all hours of the day they seem to show up in different parts of my house, they look straight at me, but their faces are never distinguishable. It seems that they want to communicate with me, but they always disappear before I can even try to talk to them...if that's even possible.
I know...it's sounds ridiculous, but this is what I know. It seems we have many skeptics in this world, but they rarely remain skeptics with as haunted as this world is.

the 'dark' puts many people on edge, making their senses much more aware at night, thus able to see the spirits that are there. ghosts are around 24/7, not only at night. it is a misconception that they only appear at night. many of the ones that I have seen and been involved with have all appeared during daylight hours.
their not being found on videos and film is only evidence that cameras and the like cannot pick them up, not that the ghost is not there.

The things that you are referring to as ghosts i like to call forces of nature. Anyway they are around us all the time. Morning noon and night.
Paranormal activity is highest between the hours of 12.00 midnight and 1.00am. It has something to do with the moon i believe.

Timing is everything.
There is nothing spooky about a ghost in the daylight, but the nighttime, where things are not so easily ignored, when the world grows still and silent, it makes a greater impact

I am a paranormal investigator and have caught many things on tape.ghost can actually appear any time of day it is just easier for them at night. less counter energy to contend with.they are in another dimension after all.and for them to apear in this one and affect things in this plane of existence requires lots of energy. except on halloween when the realms mesh and it is very easy for them to interact. ask some people who worked halloween night if they saw anything. happen..and if the place where you work has security cameras and know someone in the security department ask to watch the tapes. there is bound to some cool stuff happen on them..

I think they come out during the day too but we can't see them as easily then. I hear noises where there shouldn't be any in my house during the day, like in my brother's room which is all closed up b/c he's at college.

They don't. They're around all the time. People are more aware of them when they're settling down at night and not distracted by everything else they're doing & thinking about.
