I have never met anyone from the middle east. Have you?

I've never been there, but from what I have gathered from talking to people and seeing in the media, Religion plays too much a part in society and government. And I'm not just talking about Muslims, I mean jews as well. In my opinion as soon as Religion becomes the main focus of a society, then they feel more justified in carrying out atrocities, which unfortunately we see a lot of in the Middle East.

I have no stereo type of people from the Middle East, but perhaps I have a stereo type of Middle Eastern Nations. Isreal, for instance appears to be a bit of a big bully boy with the US at it's back. Iran, now that Iraq is out of the picture, is the the 'BIG' Muslim Country. I can take people on a one to one basis and not judge them, it is much harder to do with nations.

My feelings are, that some are as normal as I am. They want families, children, jobs,a healthy normal life and a well balanced personal spiritual life.

Then there are the ones that are so Brainwashed from birth into the whole religious war thing, that they will NEVER be anything but
Terrorists and suicide bombers.

Sadly enough, a person becomes, what they are taught. If they have a Father (usually) or maybe a Mother also that teach them from infancy that Foreigners are the enemy, they can't really turn out any other way.

It would be a blessing if it weren't that way.

The only way I could see anything changing is if they could let go of the past that has occurred there and open their hearts and minds to a war free future.

It reminds me of African Americans who insist living in the past. We are 100 years past slavery and it's time to live in the present and the future.

If I held on to the past, I would be remembering starving in Ireland during the potato famine, the Crusades in Northern Europe and the horrors of all of those wars, since that is where
all of my families came from.

It seems as if North Europeans left their wars in Europe, instead of dragging all of that history to America with their immigration.

Arabs:
They're not all the same.. for example, those from Dubai, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi, Oman, Bahrain have their own individual identity but generally...

Their culture is a lot like the Italian and Greek cultures! My Middle Eastern friends scream and fight with each other all the time, but it's just part of the drama, they never really mean all the fighting. They're extremely protective of their women, just like the Italians and Greeks are as I said, and I really like that :)

To be honest sometimes they can be a bit too much to handle (all that drama I tell ya), but I get along with them really well, even better than with my own people.. which is interesting in a way.

Food is such an important part of their culture and it's not a mystery why. Absolutely delicious.

Persians:
They have a more gentle persona than Arabs, in my opinion. Though they can be very proud of being Aryan descendants and their culture, the ones I know are very nice and warm people. Persian girls and guys are known for their good looks :)

Yes there are many stereo types about souls who live in the Middle East.

Can you imagine why?

Every human being gets frustrated. But does this give any of us the right to cause harm to another? I say no!

I also say when a soul who may be frustrated about anything acts to cause harm to another then they have chosen to be stereo typed as a Terrorist and I support the actions of more rational souls to try to stop them at any cost!

They are people just like the rest of us. They aren't killers any more than we are. Statistically (read this in Time magazine a while ago) we are the country with the highest number of serial killers and child molesters. The Middle East has its own issues, like any other country; and its own culture and religious beliefs. Just because not every one can identify with or understand another country's ways doesn't make them wrong.

The ones that I have met (from business and personal contacts)have all been kind, generous and hospitable, a few w*nkers here and there too but you'll find them everywhere, I certainly know a fair few here!

I believe that a vast majority of muslims do not condone the behaviour of the terrorist, in the same way that most Irish would not condone the IRA bombings or the same of ETA in Spain, so it is highly unfair to label them 'killers'.

why do people always say that that they're weirdos or that they always killing eachother...you guys really don't know the truth. as an american i've been to the middle east and it's totally different from what you see on tv. the media highlights the negative things in the middle east and makes people believe that that is what they are and that's all they are. yes, it happens around some places but why do you people have to be so closed-minded and just believe in everyones stereotypes. i just wanted to clear that up because i know a lot of arab, middle eastern, muslims who are great and amazing. so just try to get to know them before you make assumptions about them.

I would think that your answer lies if what Jack Straw's said in his comment on Middle Eastern women wearing the veil, and particulary Muslims. Do not Jews wear scullcaps, Shieks? wear tubans, and catholic women have their heads covered, this has been part of all their religions for centuries. I think that Jack Straw is ignorant. does he not spent the best part of his life on the telephone, can he see the person he is speaking too.
If we all looked at any race as equals, there would be no need for your question

I've met people from IRAN at university they have different ways of thinking, and they misunderstand us too.Get us playing football or playing music together. Need share more..
But from TV...they are excitable people with towels on their heads that jump around firing guns in the air. That's what they said to the SAS when they got lost in IRAQ. They are over there....remember! Are they? where? Go to where they LIVE.sheesh if they are the best of the best I would hate to meet the shite.

its not the general people in the middle east that are killers...it is the majority of us who see them that way....we are all taught what to think from a very early age...we are conditioned to go along with the "norm"...each person is an individual and should be treated as so...forget what you are told and make your own mind up
