They look like spiders for the same reason you look like a human and a dog looks like a dog. It's all determined by the DNA of the organism. Spider orchid's DNA makes the flower look like it does. It just happens to resemble a spider, which by the way, looks like a spider because of its DNA.

They look like orchids. Because they resembled spiders, that was the name given to them by English speaking people. The real name is some triple barrelled Latin concoction that I have no idea how to pronounce and is usually loaded up with abbreviations which makes the pronunciation even harder. If you really want to know it, ask a florist.
