My sister isn't the type of person to lie. She saw feet and legs up to the knee no more and it walked across the road really, really slowly toward bushes and trees near canterbury. She was so scared and alone and she stopped driving and felt something in the back of the car and felt like she was being pushed. i just want to find out what happened for her.

Wow this is so cool..
This was where and accident has apparently happened. You could go to the sherriffs office and give them the spot where she seen this and ask them who has died there.
don't tell them what she seen or they will swear you are crazy.. Most people don't believe in this kind of stuff.
You can also ask neighbors that live along the road if there had been an accident in the past at the area you are talking about that way you can find out who it is.
As for the pushing her in the car when she stopped.. they were trying to get her attention for some reason.. She don't need to be afraid of it.. most of the ghost are not mean..
she would have felt the dread in the situation if they were.
I know she may have been scared but to calm her.. they are just wanting justice in what ever happened to them and haven't found there way to the light yet.. so will continue to walk where the event happened.. Best bet is to go to the local police and ask about accidents in that area. and how it happened to see if it was a murder or something.
good luck and don't worry.
tell her to take a different route home if she is still scared.. let me know what you find out.. freemansfreeman@yahoo.com

Perhaps the town records. You could try the library to find that information out. Sometimes the area has a history to it but because of modern construction and the passing of time, we lose the history of the area.

You may find something using internet searches. Other than that I could only suggest talking to older folks, perhaps a priest or barber, or anyone who has lived in the area a long time and may have heard stories. Look to the elderly.

find out who your local historian is.
or the public libraries are a great source of local information
good luck to you hope you find out what that was as you described the classic 'ghost sighting', especially from the knees description, if there was lower level street or pavement back then this would explain this phenomena!!

Have your sister contact your local library, many times they have information. Or you can also contact a historian. Don't listen to those that don't believe because they just don't know what they are talking about. Good Luck

You need to find a local historian who will be able to tell you somting about the history of the place. Maybe there was a highway robbery there in the old days?
