The baby will cry constantly and only stop when he/she sleeps. Gas is only a side effect of colic, not the actual cause. Good luck!

Not ALL babies get colic. If your baby does have colic he/she will usually start crying (a painful cry) and draw his/her legs up or kick their legs. The baby may sometimes cry for hours on end and usually only want to go to one person. Placing them over your shoulder and rubbing their backs helps a little as does placing them on their stomachs while you rub their back.

If you suspect that your baby has colic, have him/her diagnosed by a doctor or midwife.

if your baby cries a lot and has a bit of tummy you could find out its colic, and when the baby stops crying when u put her in your shoulders to pat her, her abdomen compreses and sooths her and so it will stop crying , from this we could find out shes colic

Uh, like the screaming in the middle of the night, you walk him/her for over an hour and then not settling down until he/she farts? That's a great clue.
