POP3 is the Post Office Protocol (version 3) and SMTP is the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. SMTP is used by an email client (e.g. Outlook) for sending email while POP3 is used by mail clients to download email from a mail server.

So you could for example set up an email account in Microsoft Outlook, set the POP3 and SMTP servers to those for Yahoo!, set your userid and password to those of your Yahoo! account and then Outlook would download email from your Yahoo! email (using POP3) and when you send an email in Outlook it will send it to Yahoo!'s email server (using SMTP) and Yahoo!'s mail server will then deliver it to the recipients.

You can only get this information if you have a Mail Plus account!
