A narrow minded person in my opinion is someone who is not open to any new ideas or possiblities of change, they always think they´re right and everything they hold to be true is right and therefore should not be questioned. A narrow minded person isnt flexible in the sense that he/she could just hear out a new definition of somethin, and then think bout it and maybe take change their current perspective a little. And an example would be thinking that a girl cannot make her own decisions, not because of her age, but because of her gender...this pre-defined notion only exists still in a few cultures...but it does exist, and that in my opinion is complete narrow minded thinking. People just followin a set of rules that their ancestors taught them..and their ancestors taught them...never questioning. But this is just my opinion. I hope it helps, though. =)

Satinette gave a great answer, and I don't really have much else to add to hers.

I encounter what I consider "narrow minded people" everyday at my job. Here's my example: I work for a newspaper company. I sell subscriptions for a VERY popular newspaper. However, I still get people that I call who will tell me "I don't read that paper, it's too liberal". Why would these people be considered close minded? Because 1) They preemptively judge the paper without reading it 2) They will only see things from one perspective 3) They form strong opinions that only coincide with their belief system rather than forming opinions after learning all sides of issues.
Hmm..maybe "liberal" people aren't so bad afterall.

There are people in this world who would take interest in those items, subjects, persons etc who will be of immediate use to them. They do not look at the world as a single unit inhabited by human beings and All happenings any where in this planet should matter to us because it affects the life of people like us.
Say for example an earth quake/ tsunami/ famine/war etc occurring any where in this globe should matter to me. Narrow minded people shrug it off saying "so long we are not affected I am not bothered. The world is not my responsibility.
Even while I answer questions in yahoo some one in my house says 'What is he going to achieve by helping some unknown person?

Someone who refuses to accept other people's perceptions of things or any ideas/perceptions other than his/her own. They believe that they are right in their belief and therefore reject all other beliefs. Examples could include religion, politics, social/cultural beliefs etc...

A "narrow-minded" person is someone with a limited view on things. They don't really perceive things in the way "open minded" people might do in that they accept more than one (or a few) possible ways of looking at things.

A narrow minded person can come across as biased - ie. racist people, mysogynist/sexist people, "homophobic" people etc. These are examples of narrow minded people.

My definition of a narrow minded person is someone who refuses to hear other people opinions on philosphy. A person who is stubborn and critises people for their beliefs.

Example: A certain meateater who critises a vegan/vegatarian for being that way.

In my experience, I find a narrow minded person to be very judgemental. They believe that they are right no matter what! They don't seeem to have compassion for others who differ in their choose's of life, somewhat like a close-minded person rather then open-minded!

I think narrow minded person is that who have double standards - one for himself and one for others. A narrow minded person want others to listen to him and agree to his saying and on the other hand he himself is not ready to listen to you and find faults in your ideas, belief and faith.
