Not true!!! But majority of the men are doing time!!! There is a high percentage of women that shoplifts but their smart enough not to get caught most of the time, and too, that is the major crime that women do.....as compared to men, we do a variety number of different crimes. Shoplifting does not usually require a person to do time unless their repeated offenders.
"More women are sentenced to prison for shoplifting than any other crime, according to official figures released today. The Home Office figures reveal one third of all women sentenced to custody in 2002 had been convicted of stealing from shops."
