The trail of Saddam Hussein was a sham and not based on any acceptable or fair basis.
He should have been tried in an independent court such as the EU court.
He was the President of a Country - there are several Presidents and Prime Ministers who should also be in court but they give themselves a pardon from prosecution or as Blair said he will be judged by god.(such arrogance)
In Iraq the killing will go on regardless of what happens to Saddam Hussein because the actions of the coalition has broken down the structure of Iraqi society that used to live in peace together without ever asking who was a Sunni, Shia or Christian.
The worst is the hypocrisy of our politicians all who are against the death penalty but are happy to support it for Saddam.
The EU at least has stated it should not be carried out.
Bush & Blair have killed more Iraqi's than Saddam Hussein.

I think it will enhance peace because a lot of those people are still scared of Saddam and his family. I dont know enough about the Sunni and the Shia to say.

the man deserves hanging yet if he rotted in a cell for the rest of his life it would probably be better . yes this will enflame the situation and it just plays in to the hands of the globalists (the new world order )the info on these guys is so vast,i cant exsplain it to you in this answer but i suggest you look into it .that part of the world where there are prodominantly islamics cant be controlled by the new world order so people like bush and blair are put in place and you have us going into a war with no justification and we build army bases all over iraq ,try and take control of the oil and basically create there base in the middle east to invade from .i know what im saying in a way goes farer a field than your question ,but the implications of this are far reaching and part of a extremely big picture . this is the complexity of what we as the people are gonna have to face sooner rather than later.http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=786048453686176230&q=terrorstorm

It is surely inevitable that he will be hanged - and as such he can no longer be seen as a rallying point for Sunny Muslims. In the short term will it provide peace ? Probably not. It might help stabilise the situation and let the new government be seen as the only solution for Iraq.

1) Saddam WILL be hanged.
2) The Sunnis WILL get more violent.
3) No matter how long we stay, once we leave the war will start again. It's been going for a thousand years, and won't stop for another thousand. That's how they want it, let them have it.

Neither he will hang and Iraq will continue to spiral into the failed messed up state it has become, the important question about hanging Saddam is, why should one war criminal(George W. Bush) be able to hang another?

Once he is hanged, the question of what to do with him becomes moot, and will be one less reason for people to argue and kill each other. Even those who think he should still be in power will recognize that it's pointless to try to use violence to achieve that goal.
As Shakespeare said "If it were done, 'twere best done quickly."

If he is hanged then it will bring an end to this chapter but some will take it against the American/British and increase the trouble.

both unfortunately but don't see any other recourse if he is left in jail the mayhem will continue till he dies if he is hanged the mayhem will be there but not for long its a case of your doomed if you do and doomed if you don't ..don't like the death sentence not in my name but.......do you sacrifice one to save the many ..big dilemma
