Before you do anything else, take the back/lid off and check to see if it has a belt. The belts can stretch (like fan belts on cars). If it is a little loose, it may just be this that needs to be replaced. Happened to my old tumble dryer. I replaced the belt for a several pounds and tumble dryer was fine. For the sake of undoing a few screws, you could save yourself a lot of money. I just had a quick look on the website listed underneath and picked a random tumble dryer (don't know your model) - belt is £10.99

The most likely cause is the heating element has failed.
In some tumble driers there is an overheat cut out which may have operated. This will need re-setting.
Consult the handbook if you have one, if not then you may be able to download it from the AEG website.
The only other course of action is to call a local service engineer who will fix it for you.

The heating element is faulty, or the wiring to the element is faulty.

This should not be a big deal - buy a new one and it is quite easy to fit yourself. To get an electrician to do it would probably cost more than a new machine.

I suppose the guarantee has expired? Like yesterday, I bet? All electrical appliances seem to do that, break down 1 day after the guarantee has finished. Ever noticed?

Good luck. Hope the clothes get dry again soon.

If the inside of the drum is warm, the element is okay. Try this, it won't cost you anything. A repairman showed me this one.

Take the filter over to the sink and run water. You might be surprised to see it hold water in little sheet bubbles across the holes in the mesh. Even a lint-free filter can have a sticky colorless film across it. Wash the filter in mild detergent water, rubbing with soft brush. Rinse. It was amazing to me, but after I shook the water out and tried the filter under the running tap again, the water went straight through without forming sheets of water between the pores.

properly you are able to desire to be familiary with attempting out elecrical gadgets. Unplug it and open the astounding and spot in case you may get to the thermal decrease-off gadgets that are under pressure out in sequence along with your aspects. whilst chilly they could habit whilst checked with an ohmmeter or continuity checker. the climate themselves wouldn't have a destroy in them. All connections could be shield. Vacuum the lint/dirt in case you're in there to work out extra useful and for hearth protection. regardless of each thing is definitely right here, then perchance the relay contacts on your timer that swap on the heating aspects are shot. often times you are able to document them clean and bend them a sprint to get extra useful touch. this would suffice to show the situation, yet isn't an eternal restoration. If it somewhat is ideal on your issue, then order a clean timer to get the main existence. those run $40 5 to $95 on known.

ours did this a few months back.....the thermostat has gone and you either need to replace it or get new tumble dryer. We managed to get a second hand dryer for £35 older than the one we replaced but more efficient.

This happened to mine, it's the heater that's gone. Call the engineer out and it can be fixed in about five mins!

Check all the other things that everyone else has suggested though if you don't have a warranty.
