Hi, my baby is nearly 4 months, and for the last few weeks has been off her milk. She is never hungry and would happily go 10 hours without feeding. Every time I try to feed her she is never interested just cries and turns her head away. I have been to the doctors who say she is fine, has no fever or anything and seems happy just wont drink!! I was wondering if she has reflux since seh arches her back all the time when she does feed and screams. Also gags alot and the doc said her throat was red. She also brings up clear liquid when she burps, but sleeps fine and isnt bothered about being on her back...any ideas?

Maybe you should try a different bottle and get a second opinion.
If it is reflux, there is a medication the doctor can give your baby - I think you mix it in with her milk. My biggest concern is that the doctor says her throat was red, yet had no explanation. That just doesn't sound right. (I'm sure it's nothing major, mind you, but the dr. should at least have SOME explanation.)

If it's not reflux, then perhaps the flow of the nipple is too fast or too slow. Or maybe your baby prefers latex to silicone nipples or vice-versa. My baby didn't care for the Avent bottles because she couldn't get much milk out of the stage 1 (slow flow) silicone nipples, and the stage 2 (fast flow) nipples were too fast. We switched to the Playtex Ventaire brand and bought medium flow latex nipples. She did great after that.

I would also suggest Enfamil Gentlease formula. If that doesn't help, try the soy-based one. Perhaps your baby is lactose intolerant, in which case giving her cow's milk would be a nightmare. (You really shouldn't give a baby cow's milk until after they turn one year old anyway... for allergy reasons.)

The clear liquid you mentioned sounds like just a "wet burp."

My son had severe reflux as a baby, and while some of these signs sound familiar, some don't. There used to be a great website, refluxrollercoaster, from memory, you might get more help from a parent-support organisation like this one on the internet. I'd also have a good chat to your community health nurse, or even a lactation nurse at your maternity hospital. They will have a much more informed opinion on what is going on and where you might be able to get help. Just remember you know your baby best, and if you think there is something wrong, stand your ground until your concerns are answered. Good luck and God Bless!

My son had bad reflux as a baby . First We thought it was colic but was concerned about him throwing up and his crying would be all day . Some sounds like it could be but then some sounds like it couldnt. I wounder when you Dr didnt send him for tests. I had to thicken my sons formula and he was on Zantac. Here is a Great web sight that helped me so much . Infant Reflux and Pediatric GERD - InfantRefluxDisease.com

I was going insane due to acid reflux in my baby and not a single remedy was working until I started him with babies magic tea. Now, my son has no such issues and he eats well.

You might want to change your doctor and have your baby checked by someone else. For your baby to go 10 hours between feedings is a very long time for an infant. Good Luck.

Sounds more like she's stuggling with the nipple on the bottle...My son was almost 6 months old and stopped drinking formula...he would just spit it out...so I tried 2% milk and he drank it up...LOVED it!! 2% milk has enough fat in it for the baby..and it tastes alot better!!!
