when I was in my teens I had ovarian cysts,,I had to have one of my ovaries removed because of it but It didn't prevent me from having children,,I have 5,,, I have suffered with them all my life and from time to time they do burst,,it causes some pain(some severe, some minor) for a few days and then goes away,,my daughters also get them and their's burst as well but both of them also have children,, we have been told that their isn't much the doctor can do unless they get larger and cause problems

First of all, Don't worry. Its a good thing that it was diagnosed, and will be removed.
I had three cysts when I was 2 months pregnant. After I gave birth, I went back for a check, and removed two of them that became inflamed. Those cysts don't have any affects on the body or the ability to have children as long as they are removed before they burst.
Your girl friend is lucky. Just shower her with your care and attention, and show her that you love her, most importantly, BE THERE FOR HER. She needs to know that it's OK and that you still love her.
I wish her safety, and may she get well soon.

i have one...was told 3 years ago my right ovary is 2 1/2 times larger than the left one...it's probably grown since then, and it hurts at times. but i don't have medical insurance, so there isn't anything i can do about it. my best friend had one rupture. she said the pain was horrifying...so that kinda scares me. the surgery is fairly simple and usually done in outpatient. my friend said she had no pain after the surgery. you could probably get some pretty good info from a google search. best of luck to your friend.
