Do you mean vultures or hawks?

Either way, it's usually in trees.

Vultures are known to return and roost in the same trees for generations. Some roosting spots attract over a thousand vultures. They do seem to be attracted to mature tall eucalyptus trees espeially in California.

Well since Buzzards is spelled with a capital "B" you must be referring to a team or group. But it seems like an archaic term that mimics the 'z' sound you hear linguistically associated with old dudes like geezer or ebeneezer.

So using those assumptions of age and group comradrie I will assume either the local V.F.W. or your nearest bingo parlor...

All raptors like a roost high above the ground so land dwelling predators cannot reach them, somewhere that they can see the area around them clearly and they have an easy escape path if necessary.

Vultures usually roost in trees...they tend to prefer dead trees so there is no foliage blocking their view so they can keep an eye out for carcasses.
