Considering that the USA has been involved in armed conflict pretty much continuously since the end of WWII, is the concept of there being peace a lie? Is it possible that violent creatures such as man can ever achieve peace? Or are we just fooling ourselves?

Well, for the general population to experience it all at the same time - I would say is pretty much impossible, yes.

But if you'd like to experience a little piece for yourself - drive to a quiet spot in the woods near a brook, follow until you find a small waterfall, and just sit there listening to the world the way I wish it was. The leaves rustling, the water trickling and bubbling, the birds chirping, the trees creaking in the breeze, and nothing else. To me, there is nothing more peaceful. No, it's a shame that everyone can't just do that and realize that life would be SO much better if everyone could find their inner peace, and project it onto others.

Peace can not be defined with an on/off switch. It exists at various levels and qualities. Military intervention may not always bring about a purely peaceful conclusion, but it may give strength to its existence or - at very least - improve its chances for survival.

It's ironic that force is required to achieve peace. Not unlike the firm hand of the parent upon child, people often require some stronger force to influence improvement in their behavior.

Yes... Peace is a myth.
Man is like a cat. Always protecting and trying to expand its territory.
But I fully agree with what Day had to say.

As I always say, if you are going to fight with your neighbour about the fence boundary or a tree hanging over the fence... How can you expect whole countries to be at peace with each other?

Peace start at home. If you never had an argument with your spouse or your neighbour, you have achieved the first step towards world peace.

I strongly belive peace is possible. But I don't think we'll see the world at peace of our life times. But peace zones are larger then they used to be. The state of the world will be what we'll do with it.

A verry hard thing is to find way to compromise without being compromised. That's hard but the more will find those ways the best our chances for peace are great.

I finally would like to wish you all a violenceless and harmonious life

Lets be realistic. Look at human history. There has not been a time in which war and fighting was not going on. Throughout history, usually every generation had to send its men to at least one war. It is only in modern times that people somewhere in the world have lived their lives without being conscripted into an army and sent to war. Compared to the rest of human history, recorded and prehistory, we are living in a time of relative peace and calm. Be realistic.

I'm sorry, but peace can never be achieved through a liberal perspective.

That is why we will be in such danger with Democrats in power.
