In a way your name is your everything - it's you identity, your existence.
And if you are asking this question in a different manner then let me tell you that there is nothing in a name. It's your soul which matters actually. Your name could be changed, your personality too, but your soul remains the same till it is in your body - UNCHANGED.

It depends what sort of name you are referring to. Place and building names may have some sort of historical significance. Human names are given by parents, maybe named after a relative, historical figure, object, or just a name they like.
Many people enjoy reading up the meaning of their name. These meanings supposedly define the name-holder's qualities and personality traits. This is generally a novelty though, not always taken seriously, although a lot of people do find connections between their name and its meaning.
So, basically, what is in YOUR name is WHO YOU ARE.

My name is Robin and I was told by my father that the reason I was named that is because a bird s**t on the hospital window ledge. I always thought it was funny but when I mentioned that @ church when I was visiting him he got all bent out of shape. I also hate my name because it is for both sexes and the being picked on for instance : bat man & robin, robin hood etc............... and I think I was named that because my dad wanted a boy. So I guess there is something about a name.
