During a contraction does your stomach turn hard and pointed like during a braxton hicks contraction? or can you have contractions without the stomach turning hard? thanks

A nurse told me this during my second pregnancy, and it was pretty close to the truth. During early labor, or with Braxton Hicks contractions, your stomach will feel much like pressing on the end of your nose. During the middle stage of labor, your stomach feels more like pressing on your chin. Then, in full labor towards the end before delivery, your stomach will feel much like pressing against your forehead. However, each woman is unique, and labor can transition from one stage to another in a matter of minutes. Therefore, I would seek the advice of your doctor if you are unsure about anything.

(Also, yes, my stomach was not very hard during my third pregnancy in the early stages of labor. Really, I had no more than a mere backache for the first few hours of labor.)

Good luck and Congratulations on the baby!

congratulations. i have 4 children and when i was in labor i felt alot of pressure when i would have a contraction. i didnt notice if my belly got hard but i guess it does for the monitor to pick them up. during the last part when the pains are in waves i would find a spot on the wall to watch and breath slowy and tell my self i was laying on a beach and the waves of pain were the heat from the sun and had a small breeze when it passed. it helped me. good luck to you.

If your stomach is not hard, its not a contraction. Trust me honey, you will know!

real contractions should make your belly go hard,
the bigger ( stronger ) and longer the contraction the harder the belly.
good luck call your midwife if you are un sure
