I want to know because I'm FED UP of being stared at in my college! And it's not just me, those students stare at the other asians as well so I was just curious..

I can understand your pain and frustration. First off, it is VERY RUDE TO STARE. The whites that stare at you can stare at you for various reasons. They could be very racist (from my experience living in TX). Also sometimes people stare at those who look different. People have told me that I was "exotic" looking which is very insulting to me.
It could be jealousy. Sometimes if you look like someone who is smart, that holds a certain demeanor , they may stare at you in envy. Sometimes people will stare at you because they do not think you are pretty but they may stare at you because they are wondering about your facial features and how different they look.
Don't even bother asking these idiots "why are you staring at me?" from my experience , I have asked people that stared at me "why" and they will either deny it or say you are paranoid. You are not, you are just noticing them stare at you but they flip it around and make it look like you are crazy. Also I have tried to smile and say hello to those people that stare at me. That doesn't work either. When you say hi to a racist person they are just going to continue staring at you back without reciprocating your greeting. The best bet is to not look at them and ignore them. In fact, I think the people that stare at you know it bothers you based on your reaction and that is why they do that some more. Sometimes people have to feel pretty shitty in their lives to take it out on someone they believe is passive and stare at them to make them feel better.
I know you hate it when you get stared at, because I get stared at all the time by hispanic men and mexicans here in houston and they really creep me out!
If they are staring at you negatively, then they are racist.
If they are staring at you with a smile, then they are lusting after you.
Other then that you really don't know why they do it and they will not answer you if you ask.
People are VERY VERY RUDE for staring. Just tell yourself that you are a BETTER PERSON THAN THEY ARE because you know that it is rude and you know that you would not do that to someone else to make them feel uncomfortable.

There is no real reason that "whites stare" the act of staring is the same as amazement. I don't beleive that that there would be any difference If a white person were to go to an Asian country the result might be the same. Some would stare because they might be trying to guess were the person was from be it Germany, England, or many other places. Others might stare because they are not trained that this is a rude thing, but not to sound corny, the majority of people stare when they see any attractive sight.

really?...i'd always thought that asians or more specifically the asians in my ethnic group stare more at white people than the other way around!
i wonder if you're talking about asians in a predominantly white community or something...if that's the case, the answer is because the one who looks different naturally tends to stand out...at least i think they do ;-)

How do you know they are looking at you if you are not looking at them. Why do some asian's stare at white people. Think of things this way...if we went to China wouldn't you think white people may get a few stares? If it bothers you that much you should say something, but afterall you don't know what they are thinking. They could be admiring your beauty or maybe there is a booger in your nose....why must it be a race thing?????

well I can't speak for everyone but I know I would stare at a hot short asian chick just because I'd be thinking to myself what I would do to her, so there might be some of your reasons right there, oh and if it is pissing you off so bad yell it out and ask them what their problem is and why they keep staring

i am white and when i was little i asked my mom how can they see everything i see - for which i got smacked and told thats rude and never asked again. i catch myself staring sometimes because i remember asking- and never got an answer. it was a childish question i agree. but if you consider that "whites" have roundish eyes and as a kid i could see up down and sideways(vertical and horizontal) and figured that asians couldnt see up and down. i sometimes still wonder at the range of vision but i realize now it is totally rude and incorrect to ask. i can only say i am sorry for staring , it was done out of innocent ignorance.

wow , maybe they think you're good looking, it's just so funny because of the way white people are stared at and laughed at and mocked in some asian countries, without ceasing , very impolite.
