It ought to be, abolishing the patriot act is a priority which is why Bush is pressing the outgoing congress to pass a tougher wire tap version now!

Lets see any amendments to the constitution must be approved by the house and then voted on by each state and must win approval by 3/4 of the states. None of these things happened so that tells me the constitution was not changed. You still have your right to habias corpus and all your other rights. Nothing changed and if you voted democratic because you thought they had you were duped. You really must learn how to read because there are many people trying to deceive you. You must read in order to learn the truth. And the democrats said that the republicans were fear mongers. tsk, tsk ,tsk.

What right have you lost. Please be specific and donot just parrot the DNC rant line. I am really curious, has the FBI kicked in your door for a warrantless search, have you been locked in jail without charges. Obviously not since you are posting her eon yahoo. So I say again, how has a bill aimed at terrorists taken YOUR RIGHTS AWAY. Please try to give a civil answer and not report me for a bogus violation like 99% of all the other liberals here. If you can not given an honest answer please admit so. TYIA

This is probably a judicial issue and the courts will decide whether the actions of the Bush administration are constitutional. Lots of Bush nominees sitting on the bench so I wouldn't hold my breath. And fellow Democrats, remember Bush has the veto and he will use it. We can't muster a 2/3 majority to overturn him.

When nations are at war, the regular rules do not apply. If there is a blockade and toilet paper cannot get through, you do not get toilet paper. Even if you think that it is your right to have toilet paper because you have become accustomed to it. There was sound reasoning for the events that took place. Sometimes we have to sacrifice for things that are more important than ourselves.

Extra ordinary times call for extra ordinary measures. Perhaps you would be happier if the Guantanamo Bay terrorists were given the same rights and privileges every American citizen enjoys at the cost of even more American deaths both here and abroad.

It is very doubtful if this provision of the MCA will ever survive a Supreme Court review. But yes, it needs to happen.
