We have mice living in our chimney. Im so disgusted and freaked out that i have moved out until it is sorted. My boyfriend has caught one in a trap (set with pnut butter or choc)but we have seen more that just aint biting. We are going to try the glue that makes them stick to cardboard if they run on it and we have a pest control man coming out tomorrow - has anyone any more suggestions? I dont care if its inhumane - i dont care about micelife.

Insert neighbours cat up chimney. Don't use your own under any circumstances. Alternatively buy some rat poison, the sort that looks like blue wheat. This works amazingly well on mice and you'll have a whole load of desicated dead mice in no time.

If you have the pest control man coming he'll sort the problem for you anyway.

A lot of the suggestions I've read will come with a strong smell if any crawl under the house to die. Try this.

Leave a handful of grain or rice with dry cement in different places. When the mice eat it, the cement gets wet inside it and turns it into a mini statue. Add Salt (to make it drink / wet cement) and poison (more humane) to taste.

We had to call someone in to take the birds out safely. They pushed them down some how. It was a bit messy. Be sure that you have a screen placed on the top of your chimney after they are removed.

had the same problem myself, took about 2 wks to catch them all as they don't need to feed all the time. i used a bit of fatty bacon on a trap as it's hard for them to pull off the trap. poison is good too but if they die inside the walls you'll have a terrible smell for a few days.

Cats would be a good answer but please only before you lay out poison or before you try it with firing up the chimney.
Otherwise, your servant (the cat) might be heavily disordered.
