I have noticed when I have been reading questions on here regarding relationship problems that most of us seem to side with the asker without knowing anything about the other side of the story. When someone is going through a divorce or splitting from their partner, 99% of the answers say the asker should tell his ex to f*** off and not let them get away with anything.
Usually we only get their side of the story but it usually takes two to make or break a relationship.

When someone talks about their spouse having an affair, we are quick to judge and support them, saying their spouse is an ar** but when someone is discussing their own affairs, the answers usually support them and blame the other half.

Just something I have been wondering about.

Maybe the word "always" in there was a bit too much. I just read some questions from people asking what the other partner should be entitled to after a divorce/breakup. Almost everyone says the other one shouldn't get anything, regardless of the situation. Almost identical questions where the situation is reversed, they still think it's the asker who should be entitled to everything.

I can see what you are saying, maybe if they suck up to the asker they will get the 10 point?!

I don't. In fact I often take the position of devil's advocate just to show the other side. But then I get the flame mail saying I don't know the whole story or that I'm some kind of jerkoff for being so cruel.
I usually take the side that the guy has done nothing wrong. That's real right?
Its my cross to bear.

I am all with you when it comes to not blindly agreeing with the asker.

The problem is ... most people come on here looking for others to affirm their position, no matter how unrealistic, delusional, harmful, unfair, just plain wrong, one-sided or illegal it may be. Disagreeing or pointing out certain facts (or lack thereof) is an unpopular move to make.

You can't really take it personally because when all is said and done, it is them and their life that is screwed up ... not yours.

not every one agrees with the asker, but sometimes their story is quite compelling. I have also seen when the asker is givien a stern talking to. fortunately most askers know if they are being onesided, and can see that from the answers they receive. hopefully they realize that they were treating the site as a place to bounce their ideas and in some cases to gain some sympathy.

the asker puts their side of the story in a brighter light than the other persons and these days if you are wrong people tend to say you are right but then talk behind your back to their friends telling them you were wrong. i tell it straight. normally the first partners story you here is the one you believe, its just the way the brain works. i always wait till i here both stories ,and extract the parts that were repeated correctly or similar ,

We're only getting one side of the story. If the ex or potential ex put his/her views up we could decide better.

I've answered relationship questions and told the asker they're being a twát before now.

I think i agree with you. Most answerers are always biased towards the asker; sometimes it amazes me too!.
However, i subscribe to JOJO (answerer no 8) suggestion that we'll only be able to give balanced answers ONLY when we hear form the 2 parties concerned.

How do we know the next question is not from the person on the other side? Both halves of the couple could have yahoo answers accounts, we could be telling each half that their other half deserves nothing etc....

We can only agree with the information that is given i agree there could be different responses if both sides of a story were given but there not.

I don't agree with that. I say -I see your point but-then give my opinion. You're right there are always 2 sides to every story and we usually hear only one.
