Hi,
Before I start, I should say that in no way do I endorse the rip of culture of premium rate telephone numbers you see on TV quiz shows etc.
However, I have a business idea offering advice and would like to market myself by using a premium rate telephone number that would generate an income.
My question is: is it possible to do this and secondly, where do I find the info I need?
Many thanks

Trudy
PS the subject matter would be astrology

Go to "Say no to 0870" - it's full of adverts for people daft enough to say YES !

Your phone company should be able to give you all the answers regarding the phone numbers. Are you qualified to do this or is astrology just your hobby? You might want to check with your local council to see if you need any licences for this and before you star, you should get a good accountant to make sure your financial matters won't get you in mess. Before starting any kind of business, make a realistic business plan and make sure it's going to be profitable before you start spending your money and energy on it. Good luck to you.

You need to contact oftel or ofcom, they are the regulators for premium rate telephone numbers. You can only apply twice to set up your business or your application is refused. It will cost approx £400 to register and you must complete there very intensive application form. Once you have been accepted you will get 60% of the total call cost with the other 40% going to oftel.

I must stress that the application needs to be correct, there are companies who will help with your application form.

Premium Rate Numbers & Astrology...Two of the things I hate...but nevertheless, all you need to do is Google 'Premium Rate' - it's that simple.
