Bush had only been president for a little over 7 months when 9/11 happened.

The attacks had been planned out for years, and they were carried out by people who Clinton had in his sights many times during his 8 years in the White House. Yet, for some reason, he never took care of them.

First of all, the election wasn't a "trouncing" -- the Dems have only a slim majority in each chamber of Congress.

Plus, such changes in congressional leadership are quite typical during a lame-duck president's last two years in office. Historically, minority parties make bigger gains in such situations than the Dems did the other night.

Secondly, the terrorists are happy with this election result -- just as Chavez, Castro, and Kim Jong Il are happy with it.

This is a comment that only a deeply biased Democrat can make. It's a factual baseless comment on many levels.

First, how can you say that terrorists are worried, when the Congress will now be under the control of the very party that has inhibited and undermined the war on terror for the past three years?

Second, the Dems don't "have the reins" -- at least not completely -- because there's still a Republican commander in chief who knows that the war on terror has to be fought on the terrorists' turf, not on ours.

I don't think Bush is the greatest president we've ever had or anything -- but the man has done a great job protecting me, and you, from terrorists during the past five years. You should be more grateful to him for that.

Good grief, Mike. You don't think a blind hog finds a potato every now and then? The U.S. military is certainly more than that, but it is no better and no worse than it was under Bush. The longer a battle is fought, the more stones are uncovered, the more you find. Do you recall any terrorist leaders being captured while Bush was President? Not that George and Barry actually went into the field of battle themselves. Maybe KSM, the mastermind of 911 himself? Perhaps Ahmed al-Dabash, the terrorist financier? Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, captured by Iraqi forces? What do you want, and how short is your memory?

Actually, Mr. DonkeyDong (you did say that was your name, didn't you?) they hit once and haven't hit since. How many times did they hit during the previous administrations watch? Two embassies and The USS Cole immediately come to mind, as does the first WTC bombing. Blowing up empty tents in Afghanistan really stopped them there, boy, I'll tell ya. We've been killing them in Iraq and they've been using up their resources with the insurgency. Now the Dems are going to cut and run, and it will be back to the good old days. They will be emboldened, and they will strike again - but you will still find a way to blame it on Bush.

Heard of the first bombing of the WTC, The Cole bombing, The Embassy bombings? All during Clinton's Presidency. If you think that having Democrats in power is going to slow the terrorist's attempts to attack America, then you have not been paying attention to their mission statements and goals. They do not care who the President is, or who controls congress. That is not why they are attacking us. If that was it why did the first attack on WTC happen when we were in Bosnia saving the Bosnian MUSLIMS from being wiped out by the Serbs. We were helping their people and they still attacked us. HUH WHAT WHO? ...get your facts straight bunky...the WTC WAS ATTACKED UNDER CLINTONS WATCH YEARS AGO... 911 was the first sucessfull in the destruction of the building only. in the early nineties clinton was doing interns on the oval office floor instead of overseeing the attack on al qaedas training center that was bungled and the only reason the terrorists are rejoicing is because the idiot liberals are planning a hasty retreat from a war,though unpopular, that has al qaeda away from our shores.

Don't you know that when anything bad happens in this country it's always the Democratic Party's fault? And everything good, like the ebb and flow and smooth sailing in the economy for the middle and lower classes during the Clinton years was because of Republicans aka Reganomics?
